Welding inspection certifications demonstrate to employers that candidates possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to safely inspect welds. These certifications can include AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or CSWIP Certification (TWI UK) or IWIP welding inspector (IIW).

Having a certification as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Senior Certified Welding Inspector (SCWI) provides assurance that welds meet specifications of safety and quality guidelines set by organizations such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), The American Welding Society (AWS), or American Petroleum Institute (API).

Practice Full Part-A Mock Examination with actual AWS-CWI exam difficulty level.

  • First of all get actual field experience.
  • Choose a Welding Code for Part-C exam. My advice goes for API 1104. It is small code compared to AWS D1.1 or ASME Codes.
  • Attend an AWS-CWI Preparatory class. This will help you to prepare for Part A, B & C Examination.
  • Practice mock examinations.
  • Don’t attempt real exam until you are confident based on mock exams outcome.

It is also highly recommended that applicants participate in formal training programs offered by technical schools or community colleges that specialize in welding education.

  • You can find free AWS-CWI and CSWIP mock examinations for Part A, Part B and Part C on my YouTube Channel.
