Welding inspection certifications demonstrate to employers that candidates possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to safely inspect welds. These certifications can include AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or CSWIP Certification (TWI UK) or IWIP welding inspector (IIW).
For AWS Members, the CWI application fee is $1,100 and $1,355 for non-members. Candidate requires to choose a code for open book Part-C exam as per their choice.

The American Welding Society (AWS) administers the AWS-CWI Welding Inspector Certification – a widely recognized certification in welding inspection.
Candidates must have sufficient experience in the field of welding before being eligible to take the exam, as well as pass both a written (closed book & Open book examination) and a visual practical test.
To prepare for the exam, candidates should review essential training resources such as textbooks and practice questions provided by AWS or other third-party providers.
Choose a Welding Code for Part-C exam. My advice goes for API 1104. It is small code compared to AWS D1.1 or ASME Codes.
Attend an AWS-CWI Preparatory class. This will help you to prepare for Part A, B & C Examination.
Practice mock examinations.
Don’t attempt real exam until you are confident based on mock exams outcome.
It is also highly recommended that applicants participate in formal training programs offered by technical schools or community colleges that specialize in welding education.
