E309LMo-15/16/17 Welding Rod Specification & Properties

E309LMo-15/16/17 Welding Rod

E309LMo-15/16/17 is a type of stainless steel stick welding rod that is known for its excellent corrosion resistance and high resistance to intergranular corrosion. Earlier E309LMo electrode was known as E309MoL rod.

The added molybdenum (Mo) in the composition of E309LMo welding rod makes it particularly well-suited for 316 clad steel welding, welding 316 to carbon steel/ low alloy steel and 316L weld overlay on carbon steel.

The addition of Mo & low carbon content in the E309LMo rod makes it more resistant to intergranular corrosion and pitting than standard 309 welding rods.

It is also a good choice for welding dissimilar metals such as carbon steel to stainless steel.

E309LMo rod has higher ferrite number compared to E309L type rod.

E309LMo-15/16/17 Welding Electrode Specification

E309LMo welding rod is typically manufactured and certified to meet the specifications set by the American Welding Society (AWS) in the AWS A5.4 standard.
